The Israel Lobby

Posted June 18, 2009

For the past several decades, U.S. policy in the Middle East has been unduly influenced by Israel First lobbying groups in Washington.

Despite differing interests in the region held by Israel and the U.S., powerful groups such as AIPAC have pressured lawmakers in the Legislative and Executive branches so successfully that American regional policies have become almost identical to those of Israel.

These lobbying efforts have been undertaken through methods that are coercive and bullying, and critics of the Lobby or its proposed policies are more often than not singled out and unfairly accused of anti-Semitism.  Though America and Israel have a strong alliance and collective history, the Israel Lobby has pushed an agenda which is detrimental to the interests of both nations.
