Jewish Settlers Cut 150 Trees Near Bethlehem, Take Over Lands

IMEMC, 2/12/14 – A group of Israeli colonial settlers, on Tuesday, cut down 150 grape trees in the region of Ayn Alqisis, to the south of the West Bank city of Bethlehem.

“The aggressive settlers of Sidi Boez settlement, built on Palestinians lands, cut down the aged grape trees that belong to Ayman salah, age 47,”, said Coordinator of Resistance Committee Against Separation Wall and Settlement in al-Khader town, Ahmed Salah, according to a report by Al Ray Palestinian Media Agency.

Salah pointed out that the popular committees against settlements and the separation wall, with al-Khader municipality, will respond to the attack by planting the lands with saplings, on Tuesday afternoon.

Such an action was recently reported by the Alternative Information Center to be successful in the Southern Hebron Hills. (See related link, below.)

Also in Ayn Alqisis, settlers seized about eight dunams of land belonging to Hasan Salah, planted them with oak trees and supplied them with irrigation pipes.

In related news, WAFA reports that Israeli settlers, on Wednesday, took over a Palestinian-owned land and proceeded to plant it with olive trees in the Al-ʻUqban area, to the east of Bethlehem.

The Coordinator of the National Committee against the Wall and Settlement in Bethlehem, Hasan Breijieh said that a group of settlers, protected by the Israeli forces, took over a 250-dunum area of land and proceeded to pant it with olive trees.

He said that this comes as part of the Israeli occupation’s plan to confiscate the Palestinians’ lands for the benefit of settlement expansion..
