Israeli settlers hurl stones at Palestinian schoolchildren near Nablus
Feb 19 2014 / 7:02 pmMa’an News, 2/19/14 – A group of Israeli settlers hurled stones at Palestinian schoolchildren in Nablus on Wednesday, locals said.
Witnesses told Ma’an that the settlers stormed the village of Burin and threw stones at pupils at a local school.
Another group of settlers assaulted a 50-year-old man near the illegal Yizhar settlement south of the village.
Israeli forces arrived in the area following the incident and clashed with Palestinian villagers, firing tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets.
Settler violence against Palestinians and their property in the occupied West Bank is systematic and ignored by Israeli authorities, who rarely intervene in the violent attacks or prosecute the perpetrators.
In 2013, there were 399 incidents of settler violence against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, according to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
